Philanthropy
Richardson Electronics and its founders have a deep commitment to social, civic and environmental issues. Each year Richardson and its employees make a difference in their communities and abroad by supporting local, national and international programs through contributions of time or financial resources. Below are just a few examples of the support and contributions made recently to events, programs and organizations dedicated to helping improve the lives of others. Together we can make a difference.
- American Cancer Society's Relay for Life
- Communities That Care
- Shop-With-A-Cop
- Environmental Protection and Restoration
As an official sponsor of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, dedicated to raising money for cancer research, Richardson Electronics holds an annual "Run for the Relay” fundraising event. The “Run” consists of a 2-mile run or walk around the Corporate Headquarters facility in LaFox. More than a hundred employees typically participate in the run/walk, and many others donate their services for the event and/or sponsor their favorite team with financial donations.
Communities That Care is a non-profit organization which serves under-resourced communities in the Chicagoland area. Richardson Electronics hosts a "giving tree" for the Communities That Care Holiday Gift Program. The “giving tree” was set up in the cafeteria at our corporate headquarters with tags listing items requested by area families. Employees take tags from the tree and purchase the item(s) listed. The collected gift items are distributed to families using services from several local organizations, including Bridge Youth and Family, Hanover Township Family Services, Metro Family Services, Omni Youth, Youth Outreach, and Shelters Inc. All of these agencies work with low income/at-risk families and children.
Richardson Electronics donates to the Kane County Illinois Fraternal Order of Police’s “Shop-With-A-Cop” program in lieu of sending corporate greeting cards. “Shop-With-A-Cop” is a program where County Sherriff’s Deputies (in uniform) personally take children to local stores to purchase new clothing and toys. They also provide the children with breakfast and try to get to know them. The Deputies have expressed their appreciation for this gesture of goodwill and have assured us that donations such as ours truly do make a difference for the nearly 28,000 disadvantaged children served by this program in Kane County.
The Richardson Wildlife Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to the long-term restoration of habitats and the judicious use of our natural resources. Located on 1,800 acres in Lee County, Illinois, The Foundation was established in 1989 with three primary goals:
- Habitat Restoration and Development
- Conservation Education
- Research
